I have heard that there is U.S. withholding taxes on ETFs such as XIN - is this true? Is it possible to get this back? Also, are there withholding taxes on international funds? Thanks for your help - great approach to investing!

Margaret: CLF holds only short-term bonds (less than five years to maturity), while XBB holds bonds with longer maturities as well. As a result, XBB is more sensitive to interest rate changes. If you expect interest rates to rise, moving to short term bonds is a reasonable strategy. If you're in for the long term, however, trying to guess where interest rates are headed can get you into trouble.

I hold a ETF portfolio 40% XBB . 60% XIC<XIN<XSP and some CEW.
I am thinking I should be holding a laddered Claymore ETF --CLF instead of XBB since I see interest rates riseing in the future.
What would advise?
