		<description>   Yes, it is unfortunate that the tax system in our country penalizes the GIC investor by taxing the interest made on the principal on which you have already paid your taxes..  Again, it is even more unfortunate the poor interest rates that are offered  by the banks despite the fact that bank fees have either been increased (ie to transfer an RRSP to another institution was 25 dollars and now is 100 dollars) or new fees have been created.  However, with all this working against the GIC investor, at least we did not experience a -30% rate which many funds and stocks had experienced in the last down turn, which has not been the first or last to be experienced in the last 2 decades.  With all this said, it would be interesting to see which group would be ahead.   </description>

		<description>do not agree with doug.With   tfsa and rrsp pay  no taxes..  Gic are better and safer thatn the stock markett.Unless you trade the markett the stock markett will give you losses with Mer fees and the new Hst in july will just eat away your returns </description>
