Income Plus is the Manulife Variable Annuity (GWMB) product and it guarantees lifetime income. It does not guarantee capital at all, especially in the short-term. Anyone entering this type of product should look at it more of a lifetime committment, not a 2 year stretch. This could set you up with disappointment. Further, most advisors sell this product with a 6 year early-redemption penalty feature (DSC). So if you were to sell in 2 years you could be facing down markets and also a large penalty. So I am quite surprised a fellow advisor would recommend this course of action. So be careful with this course of action. If your major objective is safety of capital and liquidity in 2 years you need to look at other things. And there are other options. Perhaps not as lucrative to the advisor. Fred, be careful.
