The bad retirement news just keeps coming. Last week, BMO released the results of a survey indicating that older Canadians are unprepared for retirement. Today, an Ipsos Reid survey conducted for the Canadian Institute of Actuaries reports exactly the same thing.

42% of Canadians older than 45 consider themselves unprepared for retirement, says the poll, and almost the same number hadn’t sought any financial advice — not even in a book.

And while many Canadians are working to retire early, one in five poll respondents expects that they’ll never be able to retire fully.
