MoneySense’s Best Places to Live 2011 rates all 180 Canadians cities with a population of 10,000 or more in a variety of categories to determine which urban areas offer advantageous settings to live, work and play. We base our research on cities and towns with populations over 10,000 people and rate each city in the following categories: weather, affordable housing, household income, discretionary income, new cars on the road, job prospects, population growth, health care access, low crime and the ability to walk or bike to work.

Being the best in one category does not improve a city’s chances — a city has to score well in all categories to come out on top. Where did your city place? Check out our top 25 cities, which are located from coast to coast and in the far north as well, and let us know what you think by commenting below.

    unbelievable.
yes, shilpa, things aren't perfect here. things are getting tougher for everyone. but you seem like another spoiled immigrant who bought into the horatio algiers myth.
why should everything be easy for you here? is it easy for everyone else, people who were born and raised here? and why is it too late to go back? if your country of origin is so wonderful they should allow you back with open arms and a gift certificate to walmart.
i hate to say it but the canadian system is faliing apart due to vultures and leeches like yourself who feel a sense of entitlement to our benefits paid by our tax dollars. systems built up by generations of canadians and now abused and sucked dry by overbearing, greedy parasites like yourself. go back to india or wherever it is you are from and have fun crawling through the streets with your 1.2 billion neighbours
