Question: “Where do you see yourself in five years?”

An insider tip: Very few people think about things five years ahead, or feel comfortable saying that five years now, they’re going to be a CEO. Anybody who tries to be too specific will either come across as delusional or arrogant.

A smart answer: “I’ve got my own set of goals and objectives, and I would hope that within the next five years, I would have advanced my career to a higher level where I’m leading teams and making a difference at a senior level. I’m not even sure which organization it will be with, but I’d like to think that in five years from now I’ll be at an organization that I’ve been with for four or five years, and hopefully it will be your organization. I hope that we could sit down and have this conversation five years from now and say that I’m really making a difference for your company.”
