Typically a commissioned salesperson will sell a particular series of mutual funds to you that allows for their compensation. A fee only planner *might* recommend the same mutual fund (although probably not), but a different series that is stripped of the commission.

		<description>I see the advantages to using a fee only planner but am wondering what happens to the money that would have been paid for commission? For example if I use a commission based planner the mutual fund company would build in a commission that comes from my contribution to pay the planner... correct? But if I pay the planner directly then should I not get a higher value in whatever I purchase? Otherwise is it not like I am double paying commissions? Thanks </description>
