- Canadians spent on average $55,151 on goods and services in 2011, up 2.7% from 2010, according to new data from Statistics Canada. Spending on shelter, transportation and food accounted for the bulk of spending with households in Alberta spending most.
- A new study by Franklin Templeton Investments suggests a greater number of Canadians (14%) are open to taking investment risks. That number has been stuck at 8% for the last four years. The survey, conducted by Angus Reid, also found nearly half of Canadians are worried about running out of money in retirement. Only 11% have no concerns whatsoever.
