Coming soon to city near you

One of the most enjoyable parts of blogging is having the opportunity to meet my readers face-to-face. I’d like to announce two appearances I will be making in the coming weeks and invite you to attend if you’re in the area.

The Couch Potato meets his Waterloo

On the evening of Thursday, Oct. 24, I will be giving a presentation as the guests of PWL Capital’s office in Waterloo, Ont. I’ll be sharing the story of my evolution as an investor advocate, financial writer and future adviser. Along the way I’ll discuss some of the biggest challenges investors face and offer suggestions for overcoming them.

This event is free, but space is limited and pre-registration is essential. If you’d like to attend, please email waterloo@pwlcapital.com or call 519-880-0888 to be added to the list. The first 20 respondents will receive a free copy of my book, The MoneySense Guide to the Perfect Portfolio, and I will be happy to sign it after my talk.

Saturday with the Spud

On Saturday, Nov. 16, I will be one of the speakers at the Investing With ETFs event in Toronto, hosted by iShares in partnership with MoneySense. I’ll be explaining how investors can build a diversified portfolio with ETFs, including an overview of how to make trades in your online brokerage account and how to track your performance.

The event runs from 8 a.m. until noon and also features a presentation by Bruce Sellery, my MoneySense colleague and the author of Moolala. Bruce is one of the most dynamic and entertaining presenters you’ll ever see, which is why I’m pleased to be taking the stage before him rather than following his act.

It all takes place at the Allstream Centre at Toronto’s Exhibition Place. Registration is $25, which includes copies of both my Perfect Portfolio book, Bruce’s Moolala, free parking and all the croissants you can eat.

If you attend either of these events, make sure you say hello. I look forward to meeting you.
