Gas prices soar across Canada with Montreal motorists hit hardest.

  • Gas prices are soaring in a number of Canadian cities. Motorists in Montreal suffered the worst of the blows after pump prices spiked 13 cents a litre overnight. So what’s behind the increases? Nothing, says gas price watcher Dan McTeague calling it “absurd and unjustified.” Making matters worse, Canadian are being duped by advertised fuel efficiency on new cars.   • It was a good quarter for pension fund managers and their six million Canadian beneficiaries. The market value of employer-sponsored, trusteed pension funds rose to $1.1 trillion in the first quarter, up 4.1% from the previous quarter. It was the best three-month period in roughly two years.
