RBC would like nervous pre-retirees to relax. A new poll commissioned by the bank suggests that a lot of us are needlessly anxious about making ends meet in our golden years.
Of working, 50-plus Canadians with at least $100,000 in household assets, only 38% think their lives will improve after retirement, according to the Retirement Myths & Realities poll—despite that 95% of retirees polled said they’re enjoying a successful retirement. RBC’s Lee Anne Davies chalks it up to “fear of the unknown.”
Other findings: Canadians think that “realistic expectations” and “having saved enough money” are important for a successful retirement.
