Canadians unclear on tax incentives

40% aren’t taking advantage of deductions.

More than three-quarters of Canadians don’t take tax implications into consideration when making their investment decisions, according to a recent Bank of Montreal survey.

With almost 40% of citizens unsure of whether or not they are taking advantage of the tax incentives available to them, an increasing number of people are handing over too much money each April. Making the situation even more precarious is the fact that 89% of Canadians aren’t sure how recent federal budget changes could play a part in their personal tax filing.
