The world’s oldest share was unearthed in the West Frisian archives located in Hoorn, about 40 kilometres north of Amsterdam.
The discovery was made by Dutch history student Ruben Schalk who was doing research for his master’s thesis. He didn’t immediately recognize it as a share document.
The share is dated Sept. 9, 1606 and is estimated to be worth $764,000 USD.
