  • The midnight tonight (April 30) deadline is only crucial if you owe taxes (interest starts accumulating May 1). If you’re not sure, it’s best to file on-time. Hey, you might even qualify for a refund! Paper forms can be picked up at your local post office or you can use any of these free, online, CRA NETFILE-compatible tax software programs and still be done in time for NHL playoff action.   • Four months into the year, it appears Canadians are having trouble living up to their New Year’s resolution to pay down debt. Of the 63% of respondents to a PwC survey last year who said they intended to take steps to reduce their debt, only 23% reported real success against this goal and another 26% were outright unsuccessful.
