While we’re pleased with our long-term track record, we can’t guarantee that you’ll make a fortune with every A- or B-rated stock. The market is just too wild and woolly for that. Nonetheless, we do think they deserve your attention and further research.

  1. If a company has cut their dividends you should list the 5 year dividend growth as negative, not just leave a ‘-‘

  2. I am hard pressed to understand why MoneySense no longer provides the ability to download this top 100 in a tabu;ar form with all the data available, either in a pdf format or Excel, preferably the latter. You do your subscribers a major disservice. If it is Norm who will not permit it, shame on him. If it is MoneySense, it is on you; this is not rocket science and any cost is minuscule. If you are afraid that a subscriber might pass it on to a non-subscriber, if they really want to do so, they will just go through the data manually. Come on guys, stop being cheap.

  3. Norm & your Stinky investor.com (Oops, spell check but likely more descriptive than stingyinvestor.com) is like the smucks on BNN (Bad News Network, not the Business News Network) that make money by tv ratings & ad revenue. The guest pump stocks they already own to let the dumb retail investors, retiree or shift workers (who else watches these programs middle of the day). Norm makes his money by writing articles and doing seminars (that he is not doing for free, and getting people to go to his websites)
Norm is doing an injustice to retail clients telling them to do it themselves and not get advice (DIY, do it yourself and save fees). Does he not use a professional to look after his teeth or his health or his taxes. Those who studied and earned professional designations? Or does he do it by himself and risk a big mistake. In bull markets, remember all stocks go up, even the bad companies but retail investors will think “boy just a bit of home work and I will be a millionaire and no need to get advice or pay a fee.”
Norm, these poor sucker’s will lose money in the bear market (because even the good companies will fall) and much more $ lost than they made during the bull and much more $ than what was saved in a fee. “You get what you pay for” and the Pareto Rule comes to mind (the lemmings listening to the TV gurus and writers like you). I agree, not all advice from the professional advisors is correct and not all have morals (so checking around, gut feeling when meeting the new advisor and monitoring versus benchmarks). If wealthy people, pension funds and institutional accounts didn’t think active and professional management was worth paying for, there would be the industry or employment of advisors or professional designations like CFA, CIM, FCSI, etc.
Those who can, will and those who can’t, will write and teach at seminars..
Stingyinvestor.com.com and others can make forecast but what is important is getting it right! (More times than not, the advisor is being paid for advice to save a client during a bear market & preparing/raising cash for the opportunity during the bear and paying during the bull market is just part of the annual subscription). Wealthy understand that is is not what you make but what you keep! Tactical asset allocation.. Not market timing. DYI will be a bunch of lemmings.

  4. I am disappointed that I cannot down load all the details as in past years. I wonder if your future issues are going to be like
    that as well.

  5. I just dragged my pointer over the table to select all of it, clicked CTRL+C to copy, opened MS Excel, clicked on PASTE and it very nicely copied everything into a beautiful Excel table. Done in a few seconds. Now I am analyzing it on my own.
