Big city living doesn’t come cheap in Canada. The average cost of a detached home in downtown Vancouver is $1.55 million, with Toronto a close second at $1.22 million. It’s no wonder so many suburbanites working in big cities opt for a long commute over central living. As we show below, average house prices in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Calgary drop surprisingly quickly with every extra minute of driving from downtown.
