Canada’s muddled mileage

The U.S. government has modernized its auto mileage rating system to take into account the impact of things like air conditioner use and cold temperatures on gas consumption. Canada, meanwhile, has a system based on ideal driving conditions that won’t get updated until 2014.

  1. I find it extremely sad how much it costs for gas in a year when it is all lumped together. And it's too bad that Canada's system is not getting updated sooner. I guess it still works in a comparative way from vehicle to vehicle, but not for realistic gas cost estimates.
