September housing market sales inched up 3% over August, according to data from the Canadian Real Estate Association.

And while this year’s results are 19.8% lower than September 2009’s blistering activity—which set a record for transactions in that month—they were the best sales numbers the organization has posted since May of this year.

The national average resale price of $331,089 is “stabilizing”, said the organization. It is 1.8% higher than August.

Prices peaked in May at $346,881.

  1. Inaccurate / Misleading headline. The state of the market is not that rosy. Any one of the following would be more accurate:

"Sales up 3%, compared to last month."
"Sales down 19.8%, compared to record setting month a year ago."
