Canadians looking for work over the summer are in luck.

The Robert Half Professional Employment Report finds that 87% of executives across all industries were confident that their businesses would grow in the summer, compared to 80% who said the same in the last quarter.

Business services and construction are the industries expected to increase their summer hiring the most, according to the report. At the bottom of the list is transportation and manufacturing.

Lawyers were the most optimistic for business growth out of all professions, and 40% of them said they would increase hiring this quarter. Paralegals and law clerks, corporate law and intellectual property are the most in-demand specializations.

Eighteen per cent of advertising and marketing hiring managers said they were going to hire more staff, and noted an especially strong demand for app developers.

Forty-seven per cent of executives say that it continues to be a challenge to find skilled talent.
