For those looking for investing tips for 2011, a peek behind the curtain of big players like hedge funds and pension funds can provide clues as to where the smart money is going.
According to a Citigroup survey of nearly 140 pension, hedge and mutual fund investors, 64% expect the U.S. dollar to appreciate in the coming year, while a majority expects gold to slide below US$1,300 an ounce.
Portfolio managers are bullish on tech stocks and continue to favour the energy, industrials and financial sectors. Consumer-related sectors are not expected to perform well, nor are utilities and telecommunication services.
