I love graphics and TheRedPin brokerage just released a snazzy little infographic on the best time to buy and sell a home in the Greater Toronto Area. The info is based on five years of historical data and clearly shows that sellers do best in the month of May but home buyers will score better deals when they shop in January.

  1. Something seems a little funny with the data. How can the highest average prices be in May for all sales, yet when broken down by property type the highest prices are all in October and November? Either there’s an error here, or the data is so variable that using averages to declare the ‘best’ times to buy and sell is more misleading than informative. Am I missing something?

  2. I know what you mean but house prices are at a all time high starting May and going forward into the summer months, especially in the GTA with many properties going for more than asking price because of scheduled offer and bidding days.
