Lenders, vendors and employers all have access to your credit history. You should know what it says.



Your credit history is a very important aspect of your personal financial health. It dictates your credit-worthiness and influences how potential lenders, business contacts and employers will see you.

Canada’s two major credit bureaus—Equifax and TransUnion—are obligated to mail you a copy of your report free upon request. They’re not the easiest pages to find, so here are the links you’ll need in order to get your free report.



Order your credit report annually and make sure that the information it contains is accurate. Errors are more frequent than you may think, and since those errors can determine the terms on which you get credit, it pays to be vigilant.
