Got a hankering for lobster but not the steep price tag?
McDonald’s has you covered.
The fast-food giant is rolling out its very own lobster roll, known as the McLobster, as of Wednesday until June 30th, or while supplies last. It’s priced at just $7.49 plus tax.
The McLobster is part of the restaurant chain’s so-called Great Canadian Taste Adventure. There are four other “regional flavours” included in the summer promotion — maple and bacon poutine, a chocolate nanaimo sundae, cottage country chicken and the Western BBQ burger.
The McLobster has been a summer tradition in Atlantic Canada for more than 10 years. It was available for a limited time in Ontario in 2013, but now is being offered at participating restaurants across the country for the first time.
McDonald’s says the McLobster features 100% Canadian Atlantic lobster meat with celery, lemon-flavoured mayonnaise-style sauce and shredded lettuce on a bun.
“McDonald’s is always about making connections with our guests and being part of the fabric of Canada,” a company spokesperson said in an email.
“This campaign is a great way to celebrate diversity, the uniqueness of our country and regions, and of course, our proud Canadian sourcing story.”
